A Sea Life Adventure: One Little Star
March 02, 2023
One little star
He wished on every night
His heart full of wonder
And his eyes closed tight.
A very hopeful fellow,
Wished every night
For his friend Marlow
.
His friend was sick, you see,
And Stephen
wanted him to be well.
But he didn’t know how to make that happen,
Or how to ring that bell.
So every night Stephen
Made his way to the fresh air,
Where the moon could shine so bright,
And find that star so fair.
And wish with all his might
His best friend of all,
Would get better, finally.
He’d been sick for a while,
Marlow
, you see,
And he no longer played or raced,
Or did the fun things in the sea.
But Stephen
would visit
And sit by his bed
And talk of things interesting
And pet Marlow’s
head.
And wish, and wish, and wish
With all his might
That soon Marlow
would return to health:
What a wonderful sight!
And he’d try to make Marlow
laugh,
Because it was a long time
Since Marlow
had done so:
Even after a really bad rhyme.
Bad rhymes usually set Marlow
off.
He’d laugh and laugh,
Sometimes coughing,
His breath cut in half.
Stephen
felt so guilty when he found out
Because he’d made his friend worse,
Or at least that’s what he thought,
But it was Marlow’s
joy, not a curse.
Marlow
loved laughing
And Stephen
made it so easy
Even though sometimes
It made Marlow
queasy.
And wishing on that star,
Shining so bright,
Gave Stephen
hope,
Hope with all his might.
Marlow
didn’t get better,
And Marlow
was gone,
His friend’s bright smile a flame.
It blazed brightly for a time,
Then faded,
And after a while,
Got upgraded…
Because the next week,
After some time being sad,
Stephen
went back to wish upon the star,
And thought it shone brighter than ever it had.
